School Days

Here we are, going into week 6 and I'm finally blogging about the First Day of School. It was pretty fun and exciting around our household, let me tell you.. Have you ever tried to get 4 little kids ready for school? on the first day?? We had lots of fun, let me tell you..
Our new school is -literally- in our back yard. We share a property line.. You walk down 3 houses, turn and walk 100 feet into the back entrance of the school! So, we all walked to school.. I tried my best to hit each classroom right as school started, but I must confess to you that elementary schools look more like college campuses to me!! they are enormous.. our campus was supposed to start this year with 350 students and we're already at 578!! wow!! and our school last year was 850! well, if you couple the numbers with the extra security features, like locking doors, and every entrance/ exit secured so you can enter and exit through one door only, it involves a lot of walking to get from the kinder wing to the 3rd grade hallway!
Drama Queen (5 year old in Kinder) of course was at the top of the priority list since this is in fact her first year in school! She was so very excited that she hopped, jumped and skipped to school! Her teacher totally ROCKS! I loved her at first site.. she's not like most kinder teachers who are real smiley and cheery and well, she's REAL!! but she's smiley and cheery as well!! I just love her.. anyway, Drama Queen walks into the classroom like she owns it and says hi to her friends (she knows 2 or 3 girls from Cheerleading and other places!) and waves, "goodbye mommy!" and begins coloring!! so much for teary-eyed departures!!
Princess Kickapoo and Laughing Son settled in quickly as well. and that was that! I took some pictures and headed home to a very quiet house with only Big Talker and me!

Then of course, what we've been waiting all summer for.. Drama Queen began piano lessons!!! woo-hoo!! she's been chomping at the bit to get started for real! and Mr. Flores came by after the 1st day of school and began anew all the lessons, including hers for the first time!
