Meeting Neighbors, Making Friends

Where to start? So many blog-worthy things have happened in just the last few days... Let's go chornologically.
Little history... I have really been feeling that I was supposed to start a neighborhood group of ladies getting together... I've known it since before we moved. To that end, back at Halloween, I invited all the ladies I met to my house a few days later to get to know our neighbors a bit better. Not only did no one show up, but I knew beforehand that no one would since none of the people I met were stay at home moms!! But still, I had this sense of purpose. So, I now drive around my immediate neighborhood looking for the "available" signs in the yard to change to "sold" signs. Then I watch like a hawk for moving trucks and I pounce!! Sometimes, if I'm driving home and I see the truck being unloaded, I check for kids and if it's around lunch time, I make up enough PB&Js and bag up some chips and the kids and I deliver lunch and introduce ourselves quickly. If I am unable to recon the children situation, then I just bake up a plate full of cookies and deliver them. Jeff is a great sport at going with me and the kids if it is evening when we head out. Well, I've met several moms like that over the last month or so and then last week, I met a stay-at-home mom at the playground and we chatted about how few of us there were and how we should try to get together. Fridays we usually have small group with the core of people who are helping out with the new church and this week it was cancelled on Thursday. So I called one of the moms I've met recently and invited her and her family over to dinner. She agreed and asked me to go for a walk with her and another neighbor that lived a couple houses down. An hour and a half later, we had had a nice walk and later that night, I called and invited her and her family to dinner on Friday as well.. and they said yes. Wow!! we're finally starting to get to know some neighbors. We had such a fun time and Jeff got to meet the husbands... turns out one of them bicycles and they two went for a long ride together on Sunday.
Well, with all that happening, I got the feeling that now was the time. So, I called up everyone I've taken cookies to, or met at the playground and even the mother of a boy in KJ's class who happens to live around the corner and invited them all over for coffee/ playdate. Only 2 were able to show (1 had dr appt, 1 had sick kids, 1 had Bible study and 1 I didn't hear back from) but it was a start and it was cool! I think that they enjoyed themselves and I am so excited that I can truly see God starting to use me here... PLUS, I'm making new friends!! that is pretty cool stuff!
Other things are cool and happening but I'm on the Non-ergonomic keyboard and my wrists are killing me.
TTFN.
