Toys.. used for other than their intended purpose, are still fun!

Toys are fun, especially when coming up with new ways to play with them that their original designers didn't intend. I was downstairs when I heard a loud "Choo-Choo... Chugga, Chugga, Choo-Choo!" I look up and here come all four little ones with Thomas, Annie and Clarabelle raised up over their heads. The Thomas and friends set is actually a playhut /tent type of toy. However, this one has no flooring, so they had picked it up and were running around with it like a dragon in a Chinese New Year parade! What a riot!

Ask me what I did today? Go ahead.. ask. I spent SIX hours cleaning up the girls' room and the boys' room. Yes, I did say SIX hours. For those of you with either a boy or a girl, you know all about the toys now-a-days. 15 Barbie dolls plus a 6 quart tub full of clothes and another child-sized suitcase full of accessories and cars, et al. Two words- Polly Pockets! If you have "A" girl, you almost know what I'm talking about.. but to really truly understand you need TWO girls who both play with these itty-bitty 2 inch tall barbie-type dolls. And then there is all their clothes... itsy-bitsy tee-tiny plastic shoes, and dresses and etc.! We have another 8 quart container full of Pollys and then there is all the extra stuff as well. Then of course, the newest thing around here is Little Pet Shop.. These little animals with their little oversized bobble heads ... and of course all of THEIR accessories! Add into the mix all of the regular old dolls and other toys and for fun, include panties, socks, nightgowns and stockings which never quite made it into their drawers, but instead landed in the closet floor. THAT was just the girls' room.

For those of you with a boy, think Legos, Dinosaurs, Cars and Trucks and an enormous tub full of 187 Little People. Add into the mix a boy 3 years old and another one only 6 and imagine if you will what THEIR drawers look like!!! So this is how I spent my day. I started at 8:30 and around 2 was finished in their rooms. Then I had to clean up the rest of the gameroom where I had put everything that no longer was to be in their rooms! I weeded out their clothes and had to get them ready to give away, I had load after load of trash, broken toys, and items I had never seen before! Phew! What a day!

Want to know what Big Daddy did on his day off yesterday? Do ya? Huh, huh, do ya? Well, he WAS going to clean out the garage, do a little organizing. That was after he checked his email on the upstairs computer. A few minutes after heading upstairs, he headed right back down and asked me if I had been backing up the yearbook (I'm doing the yearbook -digitally- for the kids' school). I said that I had been, "Why?" To which he replied that the computer had a major league big-time virus and was about to crash.. He was able to, over the course of the next hour or so, back up all of our folders. Then he had to wipe the entire thing clean! $100 for an external hard-drive and about 9 hours later, he was finally finished rebuilding the computer! WOW!! Makes me truly appreciate having a computer guru husband!! Can you imagine if I didn't have him?!? Wow.. I don't like to, thank-you-very-much!!
